is an "I" missing? as in, Cannot Make It? hmmm..well, perhaps. depending on your perspective. what exactly is charlie-mike? i'll tell you: it's short for Carry -on-Mission, which is army speak for continuing to do one's duty for an extended period, a variation of "signing extras", which is of a slightly different form.

it is designed to serve 2 purposes, mainly - to punish the victim performing the charlie-mike, and secondly, i suspect more so, to boost the ego of the sucker who handed out the punishment...usually that would be some big *%@# ..eh hem, excuse me, i mean some big shot who likes feeling important and powerful in his job.

it was one unfortunate morning, the day before an extended weekend thanks to the CNY holidays. 3rd Sergeant C X Tan was going about his routine Company Duty Specialist (CDS, for short) duties, ensuring the smooth flow of things in the company - which mainly encompasses that the men wake up at the reville timing, go for their meals, do their area cleaning and whatever other mundane chores allocated to them. it is also within his charge to find out, accurately, the attendance of the company. that means finding out where all the 108++ soldiers in the company have gone..what their medical status is, etc..

everything was going smoothly; glitch-free; walang problema; all until 3SG C X Tan's boss showed up..

I want to inspect the men's haircut in ten minutes! Get the men to fall in! -he barked. that, by the way is the way he speaks more than half the time. but when he's on form you could probably hear him from the other end of our battalion, which consists of 4 companys housed in the same compound..(it takes about a good ten minutes to walk the length if the building, just to give you an imagery)
