yay..the company office finally has it's internet access reinstated! (for those who don't already know, our connection at home got cut off cos we've chalked up about half a year of unpaid bills..", so yea, i'm pretty reliant on this as my only contact with the virtual world)

anyway, latest updates..

i've finally returned the Basics of Philosophy book - although i didn't quite get to finish it..but the chapter on the existence of God and Right and Wrong were particularly interesting. right now, whenever i overhear a debate on morality going on, i can't resist butting in with "but in the first place, HOW do u DEFINE 'right' and 'wrong'??" from the consequentialistic to the utilitarianistic point of views - each having very good arguments of their own - there are really many different ways ppl define morality.

but i tink i'll have to shelf this intriguing subject for a while, and finally start poring over Catechism of the Catholic Church..alex, stel n myself are supposed to be doing the sessions on the liturgy, covering four main topics. among them being the 7 Sacraments, which i've been tasked to read up on..that chapter alone spanning 100+ pages, i'd better get started right away!

on to another topic..actually, about a cool experience last night.(which really to most would seem improbable if one had to sit in an office w/o air-conditioning, fan or a substitute form of ventilation wearing smart-4: that's the SAF camouflage uniform, yes, the green one..with sleeves rolled for the whole day!) anyway, getting back on track: i was toying with my hp, trying to use up the 500 sms-es i pay $20 for every month, when a wacky - perhaps a little cheeky - idea struck me..i'd tease this really cute girl (not really a friend though, yet, cos i'm not that close to her) by sending her a suggestive, perhaps even border-lining on - dare i say? - 'provocative' message. i had hardly expected a reply from her though..in the first place i'm not even close to her, and second, 'here i was' trying to pull a stunt that i wasn't really in a position to be trying..

but anyway, to my surprise (ok, i'll admit, to my Pleasant surprise)she actually did reply..it was just a simple "Hey. I'm fine. :)" but really i think it was more than i could ever have hoped! sensing the iron was hot, i decided to push my luck a little further..i ended up asking her abt her life, abt where she was gonna furher her studies and stuff - rather regular stuff - then i began probing about her involvement in the Faith, and that's where it got really interesting. i discovered that she'd recently just left the group she was in, citing a loss of passion (implied?) n 'feeling obliged' as her reasons for leaving. it was really an intriguing coincidence - cos only the week before adrian and cheryl conducted a session for us on "our Christian Mission" i.e to evangelise; to preach His Word.. and as Christain Chua mentioned during charismatic that friday (or was it the week b4?) 'evangelise to the unbeliever, RE-evangelise to the believer i.e rekindle the believer's desire and passion to serve!

the opportunity was there..it was a chance to attempt to re-kindle a flame that once burned strong. although three 480 character messages later, i was simply dismissed with "i know, but i've already made up my mind so you don't have to try to persuade me or anything", i hope that at least i'd 'planted the seeds'..(but from the sound of her annoyed tone, perhaps many have tried to persuade her already - so i'll say: 'added the fertiliser' to the seeds already planted.

to be honest, because of my apparent ulterior motive, i thought i'd better back down. oh well, guess all i can do now is to pray for her..to pray for her change of heart. and perhaps for a conversion in another friend of mine - who happens to be in the same camp as me - too.
