Monday, January 05, 2004 YLM's annual general meeting was a pretty productive one. For one, we managed to come up with a new vision - with Edwardo providing the impetus: To be Moulded, as a Community for God, by God. In addition, we've also got the rough idea of the events we'd be taking on in 2004. However, with most of the "menial details" out of the way, one thing still remains to be carried out: the re-election of our 3 co-ordinators. Jeremy advocates that the 2 Kohs - Iggy and Kevin, should be rendered ineligible for nomination (the former due to already excessive Youth Council comittments, while the latter would be serving his national service come 13 Jan.)
With our more experienced younger members effectively "eliminated", it is time for some new blood to take the reins...surely it is the opportunity for those who have been hiding in their shells (out of fear or merely a lack of interest) to bring forth their true potential; to take their talents bestowed upon them by the Almighty and invest them, using them to reap in the harvest - rather than burying them in the ground for safe-keeping. For the harvest is rich, but the labourers are few - so ask the Lord of the Harvest to send forth labourers to His Harvest. Yes, the calling is there. But who would be willing and able to answer His call? perhaps with our current state of affairs it is time a new group of leaders take the helm, to steer this ship that is our youth group, the Youth Liturgy Ministry - so full of promise but perhaps lacking in that bit of inspiration, back on course? Father Peter Koh's message during his homily yesterday - the epiphany - seemed to be particularly relevant to ourselves: that no matter the circumstances or situation, we have to perservere. Times can indeed be trying...and at this crucial crossroad: one that would indefinitely play a part in the determination of the future direction of our Ministry, i call upon you, my fellow members, in this our Community; our YLM family to take a stand and not give in to external pressures: we have to look deep inside our hearts and really pray earnestly for guidance from up above - for the strength, when we cast our vote this saturday, to vote not because we are influenced by particular individuals (or individual) but rather to listen to His calling, and henceforth discern His will for us, (pardon the cliche, but seriously) it is only when we are united that we are strong; divided we would surely fall... ... raneth hopped off at 4:58 am
