5 Days to X'mas!!! yea...hooray. okay, it's pretty obvious im not exactly exhilarated, huh..gee, i don't know. some how after i've returned from the philippines i've been wondering where Christmas went...you know, the true spirit of x'mas...

some how, when i look at christmas as defined here in Singapore, christmas is just shopping at Orchard road for x'mas presents..sheesh. okay, the x'mas lights that lite up the whole stretch of our commercial district are pretty to look at, im not doubting that. but really, that's all x'mas here seems to be...it's so commercialised, so materialistic ("come and share the Christmas joy with your friends and family, by shopping at XXXXX Shopping Centre etc.")

maybe that's what i've been missing all this while - the time spent with family and friends...and the time spernt in Church to truly celebrate the Birth of Christ: for that is what x'mas is really about. not about the presents, not about eating at an expensive restaurant on x'mas eve (unless it's a family gathering or something) because really, Christmas celebrated alone is really not x'mas at all...i guess it's kinda in our programming too...the need to feel loved; to feel belonged...and the best way to experience that is to be among the ones nearest and dearest to us. yup.

sigh...so until X'mas eve (we'll be going up to Granny's place for our usu family reunion; maybe even by the 23rd..=> ) i guess i'll just hang around... maybe write a letter or two to my newfound fwens in the phils: Tita Bambie, the Lolas st Anawim, Grace and the gals at Payatas...hmm, think i'll get started tonite. c",)
